The game does a great job of making you think you know what is going on, and then Colonel Sanders rolls up to school on the back of a stallion. I honestly can’t tell you if I am more interested in uncovering the secret herbs and spices behind KFC’s famous chicken or living the rest of my days next to that silver fox, but I am all for it. Needless to say that the story is what really drives these kinds of games anyway. They did a great job balancing between game mechanics and tripy out of this world moments. Honestly, if you had told me this game was published by an actual gaming company I would have believed you. The mechanics really help to keep the game play simple while keeping the player invested in the story. However, much to my surprise we get a little boss battle in the form of turn based combat against a spork monster as well as a timed question event that goes array when you are too busy lusting over the Colonel himself. You read through quite a bit of voice lines to get an idea of what is going on, get asked a question every once in a while to push the story in one of several directions and hope for the best.

I Love You, Colonel Sanders! A Finger Lickin’ Good Dating Simulator follows the same type of story line mechanic that several different dating sims include. This just adds to the over the top campiness of the game itself. Of course it includes a very anime type style with bright colors and lots and lots of pink. We are also treated to some pretty far out cut scenes when the characters transcend existence thanks to some pretty good food. The game follows a simple text and image type flow which shows the characters involved in the conversation with changing expressions depending on the situation. The corgi teacher who leads the class in their daily activities and misadventures. However, we get one of the best-est boys ever in the form of Sprinkles. Each character visually follows a similar trope to the classic dating sims including the player’s best friend, arch nemesis, villain’s partner and some side characters who are just there to make the story go on. Thankfully we get a much younger and good looking Colonel Sanders who seems to be the hottest guy in the school.

It does not shy away from your typical dating sims scenarios but brings on the fantastic food and puns including a crack at the eleven secret herbs and spices. Developer Psyop worked alongside publisher KFC (yes they publish games and make tasty fried chicken) to bring this pun filled game to life.
